An only child born to a single mother, Sheri graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a degree in Political Science and later earned her MBA.  Sheri worked as a TV news writer and producer at CBS and NBC affiliates in Saginaw and Detroit. She later wrote for the Oakland Press and published several short stories.

That’s where the ultimate adventurer in Sheri kicked in. She was a mess. In the More article, Sheri shares how skydiving, whitewater rafting and other feats with the Dare Divas helped drop-kick depression away. Her 65-day solo journey to Africa and Asia proved that there was still life to be lived, and she was going to salute her husband by living a life he would want for her.

During her journey there were many hilarious and even dangerous elements along the way. During a safari in Kenya, a great white lion charged her Rover, she nearly fell off an elephant in Thailand, and was given the evil-eye by a Buddhist Monk in Sri Lanka when her shawl fell off her shoulders in a temple. Sheri visited South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar, Cambodia, Shanghai, Hong Kong, some 30 countries culminating at the Great Wall of China where she prayed and thanked God for her safe solo journey. She had traveled through time, seeing great historical and cultural sites, learning about different religions, trying various cuisines and most notably hearing age-old wisdom from amazing people she met from around the world.

Sheri lives in Michigan where her college-aged kids visit on occasion and she continues to write and dream of her next big dream, the publication of her memoir, When All Else Fails, Sail.

“It’ll work, if God, wind, leads, ice, snow, and all the hells of this damned frozen land are willing.”
